We have another 5 weeks left in our current Bible Study series, Christianity 101.

Looking to what’s next, we will begin a new 20-week Bible study series titled Respectable Sins.

Over the coming months, we will be examining what the Bible teaches about the subtle sins that many Christians tolerate in their own lives. These include areas such as anxiety, discontentment, pride, selfishness, irritability, judgmentalism, and worldliness, sins that often go unchallenged because they seem “normal” or respectable compared to the more obvious sins we see in the world around us.

While we are usually quick to recognise sin in the culture or in other people, we can easily become blind to these attitudes in our own hearts. This series will help us look honestly at these areas in the light of Scripture and the gospel of grace.

What to Expect

The series will run for 20 weeks during our midweek Bible study and prayer meeting. Each session will include clear biblical teaching (around 25 minutes), practical application, and time for prayer together.

The teaching each week is designed to stand on its own, so you will still benefit even if you are unable to attend every single week. However, we would encourage you to make these studies a priority where possible, as the series builds progressively through important biblical themes.

Handouts will be provided each week to help with personal reflection. The studies are accessible and do not require any prior reading of the book.

Why This Series?

Our desire is that this course will help us grow in humility and holiness as a church family. We will begin with foundational truths about our identity in Christ before moving on to look at specific sins that often affect believers. Throughout the series, we will keep returning to the gospel, remembering that we fight sin as those who are already accepted in Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

This is not a series about condemnation, but about grace-enabled growth in the Christian life.

Who Is This For?

This series is intended for those who regularly attend our Lord’s Day worship services. Whether you currently attend the midweek meeting or not, you are warmly invited to join us for these studies. We believe it will be a profitable and encouraging time for anyone who desires to follow Christ more faithfully.

If you have any questions about the series or would like a copy of the full outline, please speak to Pastor Carl.

We look forward to continuing to study God’s Word together over these coming weeks, and hope to see some new faces join us.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart!

Try me and know my thoughts!

And see if there be any grievous way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Psalm 139:23-24
